HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

Crown Power Energy Systems Ltd is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its employees and others who may be affected by our activities. We recognise that our people are our most valuable asset and that the effective management of health and safety is an essential element of our overall business strategy.

This Health and Safety Policy is issued by the Crown Power Legal Department, which serves as the legal division for Crown Power Energy Systems Ltd.

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public who may be affected by our activities

  • Complying with all applicable health and safety legislation, regulations and other requirements

  • Preventing accidents, work-related ill health and injuries

  • Continuously improving our health and safety performance

  • Providing adequate resources to implement this policy effectively

ORGANISATION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for health and safety within Crown Power Energy Systems Ltd and will:

  • Ensure adequate resources are available for the implementation of this policy

  • Review health and safety performance regularly

  • Ensure health and safety is given equal priority with other business objectives

  • Lead by example in promoting a positive health and safety culture

Chief Executive Officer

The Chief Executive Officer has executive responsibility for health and safety and will:

  • Take overall responsibility for health and safety performance

  • Ensure that health and safety is an integral part of the overall management culture

  • Ensure the company's health and safety policy is implemented effectively

  • Report to the Board on health and safety performance

Health and Safety Manager

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the health and safety management system

  • Monitoring health and safety performance

  • Providing advice and guidance on health and safety matters

  • Ensuring health and safety inspections and audits are conducted

  • Investigating accidents and incidents

  • Liaising with enforcement authorities

  • Keeping up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and good practice

Department Managers

Department Managers are responsible for:

  • Implementing the health and safety policy within their departments

  • Ensuring risk assessments are conducted and control measures implemented

  • Ensuring staff are trained in health and safety matters

  • Conducting regular health and safety inspections

  • Investigating accidents and incidents within their departments

  • Including health and safety in team meetings and communications

Employees

All employees have a responsibility to:

  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions

  • Cooperate with management on health and safety matters

  • Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health and safety

  • Report all health and safety concerns to their line manager or the Health and Safety Manager

  • Use work equipment correctly and in accordance with instructions

  • Wear personal protective equipment when required

ARRANGEMENTS

Risk Assessment

  • Risk assessments will be conducted for all work activities

  • Significant findings of risk assessments will be recorded

  • Control measures will be implemented to reduce risks to an acceptable level

  • Risk assessments will be reviewed regularly and when circumstances change

Consultation

  • Health and Safety Committee meetings will be held quarterly

  • Employee representatives will be elected to the Health and Safety Committee

  • Minutes of Health and Safety Committee meetings will be published

  • Employees will be consulted on changes affecting health and safety

Training

  • All employees will receive health and safety induction training

  • Job-specific health and safety training will be provided

  • Refresher training will be provided as required

  • Training records will be maintained

Emergency Procedures

  • Emergency evacuation procedures will be developed and tested

  • Fire wardens and first aiders will be appointed and trained

  • Emergency equipment will be regularly inspected and maintained

  • Emergency contact details will be displayed

Accident and Incident Reporting

  • All accidents and incidents will be reported and investigated

  • RIDDOR reportable incidents will be reported to the HSE

  • Accident trends will be analysed

  • Corrective actions will be implemented to prevent recurrence

Health Surveillance

  • Health surveillance will be provided for employees where required by risk assessment

  • Records of health surveillance will be maintained

  • Employees will be informed of the results of health surveillance

Equipment Safety

  • All work equipment will be maintained in a safe condition

  • Pre-use checks will be conducted

  • Formal inspections will be conducted at specified intervals

  • Defective equipment will be taken out of use until repaired or replaced

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • PPE will be provided where risks cannot be adequately controlled by other means

  • Employees will be trained in the correct use of PPE

  • PPE will be maintained and replaced as necessary

  • PPE use will be monitored

Contractors

  • Contractors will be selected based on their health and safety performance

  • Contractors will be provided with relevant health and safety information

  • Contractor activities will be monitored

  • Contractor performance will be reviewed

Display Screen Equipment (DSE)

  • DSE assessments will be conducted for all workstations

  • Suitable equipment will be provided

  • Training in the safe use of DSE will be provided

  • Eye tests will be provided for DSE users on request

Manual Handling

  • Manual handling risk assessments will be conducted

  • Mechanical handling aids will be provided where practicable

  • Training in safe manual handling techniques will be provided

  • Manual handling activities will be monitored

Hazardous Substances

  • COSHH assessments will be conducted for all hazardous substances

  • Control measures will be implemented

  • Information, instruction and training will be provided

  • Safety data sheets will be obtained and made available

Noise and Vibration

  • Noise and vibration risk assessments will be conducted

  • Control measures will be implemented

  • Health surveillance will be provided where required

  • Suitable PPE will be provided

Working at Height

  • Working at height risk assessments will be conducted

  • Suitable access equipment will be provided

  • Training will be provided

  • Work at height activities will be monitored

Driving for Work

  • Driving risk assessments will be conducted

  • Vehicles will be maintained in a safe condition

  • Drivers will be trained and assessed

  • Journey planning will be implemented

Lone Working

  • Lone working risk assessments will be conducted

  • Communication systems will be provided

  • Emergency procedures will be developed

  • Lone workers will be monitored

Stress Management

  • Stress risk assessments will be conducted

  • Control measures will be implemented

  • Support will be provided for employees experiencing stress

  • Training in stress management will be provided

Electrical Safety

  • Electrical installations will be inspected and tested

  • Portable appliance testing will be conducted

  • Visual inspections will be conducted by users

  • Records of testing will be maintained

Fire Safety

  • Fire risk assessments will be conducted

  • Fire detection and warning systems will be installed and maintained

  • Fire-fighting equipment will be provided and maintained

  • Fire evacuation drills will be conducted

First Aid

  • First aid needs assessment will be conducted

  • Adequate first aid provisions will be provided

  • First aiders will be appointed and trained

  • First aid equipment will be regularly checked

Welfare Facilities

  • Clean and well-maintained welfare facilities will be provided

  • Adequate supply of drinking water will be provided

  • Suitable rest areas will be provided

  • Facilities will be regularly cleaned and inspected

MONITORING AND REVIEW

The effectiveness of this policy will be monitored through:

  • Regular inspections and audits

  • Accident and incident investigations

  • Performance reporting

  • Employee feedback

This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if there are significant changes in the organisation or relevant legislation.

COMMUNICATION

This policy will be:

  • Displayed on noticeboards

  • Included in employee handbooks

  • Available on the company intranet

  • Communicated during induction and refresher training
